“Being empty is like a vacant house. An unlocked, vacant house. Anybody can come in, anytime they want. That’s what scares me the most”
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
What lies.
Behind closed doors.
Silent screams.

Brilliant!
Oh. Wow! Thank you…
How cool is that for the debut of the Photoholic at The photo rehab Clinic! Beautiful !
Thank you *bows gracefully – then trips over shoelace*
Haha, I tied your shoelaces together, didn’t you notice? 😉 The photo + quote are as haunting as ever. Your blog might be the only haunted place I actually enjoy.
Ha, just as I suspected (shoelace point) …happy (or should that be miserable) that I am able to haunt you so well
I’m happily miserable. In addition to being cheerfully negativist.
There really is no answer to that…
A very powerful photo and quote to go with it. It feels very personal and very true but I sense you are far from vacant even if you don’t know it 🙂
Thank you, much appreciated…just screaming silently 😉
did i congratulate you on being featured in 101? xx My brain sucks today lol x
You did !! Thank you! x
I really love it!!!!
Thank you!!
Great shot. I love the lone bicycle. It enhances the feelings of abandonment and emptiness.
Thank you..It was a gift for the shot, I agree with you, weird thing is the streets here are always quiet like this….
Murakami has such a way with haunting words, I’ve only read After Dark so far but I was struck by it’s imagery and the atmosphere he creates. This photo is the perfect illustration of that, it’s almost as though it’s moving. I also love the fact it is snowing on your blog!
Thank you. I am a big fan of Murakami, no wasted words, and every one is full of space….wordpress organised the snow and by now I am thinking of hiring a snow plough… Have a great weekend!
I will have to read some more, I’ve got Norwegian Wood patiently waiting on my bookshelf! Don’t get snowed in, but make sure you build a snowman! Have a lovely weekend too!
Coincidence my copy of that book is gathering pixillated dust inside my iPad 😉 off to make snowman now …
superb graphism… so minimal, yet so rich in texture and pattern…
Thank you…
and btw, love the emotional quote… the words go so well with the photo… it suggests so many things are going on under the surface…
Yes. You are very perceptive, a lot going on…
I like the processing on this where you’ve kept some clarity on the bike and lowered it on the surroundings.
Thank you, it really did stand out…
so….delicate… can’t find another word 🙂
Thank you, it is quite scary how quiet the streets in Flanders can be…
