I don’t think I’ve heard that quote completely before, it’s just perfect. And your mine photos are so good Andy. Mysterious and moody.
Thank you! The photo was of this morning’s partial eclipse of the sun, there was a lucky and surprising break in the cloud cover!
It’s amazing. I want to try some moon shots. I need to find a good location.
Out in the bush on a cloudless night?
Yes that’s probably a good idea. Or the beach maybe?
A wild windswept beach with the moon low on the horizon perhaps, over the ocean or falling behind a cliff?
Oh I can see it in my minds eye….
So, there’s a challenge then? 😉
Ok, it’s on!
Yay, can’t wait to see the results! Isn’t it kind of later where you are now (or v early in the morning)
Um yah, just got home from dinner with my friend and the puppies.
Excellent, hope it was a good one!
Thanks Andy. So good to have time to catch up with friends when I’m home!
Wow, Andy, you did it. It is fantastic. Thanks for sharing it at the Photo Rehab. The quote is also superb.
Here is so cloudy and there was no chance to see the eclipse.
Thank you so much for this post.
Thank you Lucile! It was hopelessly cloudy and then there was a moment when the clouds parted, and had the clouds not been there the shot would have been impossible, so luck and timing. Hope you are having a great weekend?
Wonderful to hear that. Here it was impossible. There are dense clouds in the sky since yesterday and they seem to be here to stay for a few days. Not a bright way to start spring.
The weekend is looking good though. We’re bringing daughter to horse back riding and have family gathering in the evening. Heartwarming weekend.
How’s yours looking like? Have a lovely one.
The same clouds are here over Brussel today, cold and grey and miserable….just having a coffee and thinking….have a good one Lucile!
Thank you Andy! Make the best out of your weekend.
Actually I think that days like that make for beautiful monochrome photos with a lot of contrast, shadows. You’re a master of it, so it’s your day. Carpe diem.
Will do, may even take out my old Olympus OM10 with an old roll of Ilford Delta 3200 in it….
That sounds promising! Good luck! And post later.
So, had fun shooting with my old and first love (OM10) and now need to find a shop that will develop Ilford Delta mono film…
Brilliant shot, Andy. I think the clouds added to the atmosphere of this shot – dark and spooky. The crescent looks like it’s trying to outshine the clouds. Wonderful work on the images 🙂
Thank you Mabel! yes, the clouds made the shot in an artistic sense, and as I said to Lucile, without the clouds the shot would not have been possible anyway…have a great day!
Oooh! I was hoping someone would post shots of the eclipse. I heard it was lovely in your neck of the woods (and in Greece) this morning. 🙂 Great shots! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thank you Amy! Glad you liked it, it was all very impromptu and as I have said below (or above) I got lucky with timing and a break in the clouds…hope the weather over there is also breaking better?
Thank heavens for breaks in the clouds! Yes, there was a tiny break in the weather here today. Thank heavens. I wrote a slightly sarcastic post about it on my photo blog today. Here’s the link. https://playingwithmyfirstdslrcamera.wordpress.com/2015/03/21/spring/
Saw the post, lovely photo and so glad it’s heated up to one degree! 😉
Great King quote, great moon shot!
Thank you, a very lucky shot of the eclipse through a break in the clouds!
Yeah, and the clouds add that extra dimension that makes it so appealing
Really glad you liked it, just goes to show what timing adds to a shot, I had given up hope of catching the eclipse and then….
Luck, sometimes, is half the battle, eh. Waiting, though, is the strategy that creates that luck maybe?
Waiting is the best tool we have as photographers….and the hardest to deploy…
Right again, especially if you’re like me…total lack of patience.
Totally.
wow is all i can say to this, really wow, very scary looking too! x
Thank you, a very lucky shot!
